Practice Kanji

I spend a lot of time on my computer, so when I began learning Japanese one of the first things I looked for was a good Kanji flashcard program. I found a few good programs really good programs available on the internet:

  • KDrill is able to filter quiz Kanji based on grade or frequency and also has a multiple choice format. I also really like the fact that if you get an answer incorrect you get a double penalty (the current Kanji and the Kanji for the answer you guessed incorrectly).
  • Tango Blaster was nice because it supported chunking and allowed testing based on onyomi and kunyomi readings.

Unfortunately each program had different aspects that i liked. In the end I did what every self assured programmers does… I wrote my own program that combined the aspects that I liked from each. My program isn’t as full featured as the other two applications that I found, but instead different featured. Please use and distribute freely, all code and applications are LGPL licensed.
